Our Professional Schools Program is based on our highly effective Private Program levels which are designed to put together the many different aspects of swimming all four strokes.

All of our Teachers & Coaches are not only fully qualified Austswim and/or SwimEd Instructors but they have undergone extensive in-house training and are subject to regular and ongoing assessments and workshop training.

For best results, we recommend your school should participate in 10 x 45min classes per year.

We offer each school a Standard and Premium Program option. The main difference between the two programs is the number of swimmers per class.

Below is an overview of the comparison between the DLSA Private, Premium Schools & Standard Schools Programs.

FAQ

1. My child already swims in the DLSA Private Program, should they also swim in the Schools Program? - Yes, they will find it beneficial to their Private Program progression.

2. My child swims at another swim school and I don't want them to get confused. - No problem, we understand that kids are also doing private lessons at other centers. We will not interfere with anything another instructor and/or swim centre has taught.

3. What if my child misses a lesson? - Unfortunately, we are unable to offer make-ups or credit for lessons in our Schools Program.

4. What if my child has been put into the wrong level? - We conduct a continual assessment on the swimmers so children can move up levels as soon as they display the skill needed for the higher level.

5. Is it usual to have 10 swimmers in a class? - In the Schools Program, swimmers who can swim unassisted are grouped in silmilar skills levels 10/class. With assisted swimmer/lower level of water confidence we group similar skill levels up to 8/class. We offer a Premium Package of lessons to the schools which will limit the numbers per class to 4 to 6 (the same as our Private Program) however the per lesson rate is higher.

PLEASE NOTE: Even though there are higher numbers per class in our Schools Program, most lessons go for 45 minutes instead of the standard 30 minute lesson in our Private Program. This enables us to maintain a higher workload with greater numbers in the class.

6. My child can swim longer distances than what I have seen used in the DLSA Schools Program. - We understand that sometimes children can swim longer distances elsewhere than we allocate for our Schools Program classes however, the main focus of our Schools Program is to provide an increase is swimming skill. Often times this is better done over shorter distances initially then, increase the practice distance as we move through the lessons.

7. How is my child assessed into their level within the DLSA Schools Porgram? - For schools continuing with us from previous years, we start by grouping classes based on the final assessment achieved previously. Every child is assessed on their first lesson and the class list is updated for when they attend their 2nd lesson.

The teachers will continually assess the children in their class and notify the Schools Administrator when a child needs to go up a level.

8. What do I do if I feel my child is in the wrong level? - We'd be happy to hear from you. The best way would be to email our Schools Coordinator on schools@dlsa.com.au with your concerns and we would reasses your child and discuss the situation further with you.
