Centenary Heights Aquatic Centre Closing for Maintenance June/July Holidays

UPDATED 20TH JUNE

Important information for our DLSA Centenary Heights families.

Recently we were notified by the Centenary Heights State High School (CHSHS) that a new filtration system will be installed at their aquatic facility over the June/July school holidays.

This facility maintenance closure will effect all lessons & squads for 2 weeks from 27th June to 9th July.

We have made detailed alternate arrangements for ALL DLSA Centenary Heights bookings throughout this time.

Lessons will resume at DLSA Centenary Heights as normal from Monday 11th July.

To avoid confusion and uncertainty, please take some time to update yourself on how we will manage bookings & billing throughout this time.

BOOKINGS:

We have been working hard to create alternative arrangements to enable continuity of lessons for all of our DLSA Cent Hts swimmers. The following outlines our plans, specific to various DLSA Levels & Days:

  • DLSA Water Conf/Learn-to-Swim Levels - All classes will be held at the same time with the same teacher at DLSA Wilsonton for the duration of the maintenance closure.

  • DLSA Mini Squad/Junior Squad Levels Monday to Friday - We will be conducting Mini Squad Sessions from 10.00am to 10.45am and Junior Squad Sessions from 10.45am to 11.45am at DLSA Wilsonton.

  • DLSA Mini Squad/Junior Squad Levels Saturday - We will be conducting a Mini Squad Session from 12.00pm to 12.45pm and a Junior Squad Session from 12.45pm to 1.45pm at DLSA Wilsonton.

  • DLSA Fitness & Development Squad - We will be running a combined Fitness Squad/Development Squad Session 1.15pm to 3.15pm Monday to Friday at DLSA Wilsonton. We will also be running two AM sessions Tuesday and Thurs 7.00am to 8.30am at DLSA Wilsonton.

BILLING:

The placement of the maintenance closure means it effects the last week of 22P2 and the first week of 22P3. The following are important things to know about how we are handling your booking & billing items:

  • First and foremost, in keeping with your Perpetual Programming philosophy, we are keen to provide alternate class options for your child, so that they do not go through a 2 week period without swimming.

  • Our preferred method for families is that they take advantage of the program options we are putting on for DLSA Cent Hts families at our Wilsonton facility.

  • If families are unable to attend lessons at DLSA Wilsonton, a Special Make-Up Token will be provided instead of the lesson.

  • This special Make-Up Token will not have an expiry date, thus it can be used at any time in the future.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  • In the spirit of continuing your child's Water Safety Journey, we STRONGLY encourage all our DLSA Centenary Height families to make the effort to travel to DLSA Wilsonton during this time.

  • We understand the potential extra travel time can be inconvenient, however being that this will only be for 2 weeks AND it is happening over the school holidays, this will make it easier to travel the distance to DLSA Wilsonton.

  • Unfortunately, this maintenance closure is totally out of our control. We truely appreciate the work CHSHS does to maintain their aquatic facility.

  • It is not unusual for large commercial facilities such as this to experience maintenance closures from time to time. This is the 2nd such closure we have experienced in the last 23 years of operating our DLSA Centenary Heights program.

THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:

  • DLSA Wilsonton is just 15 minutes drive from DLSA Centenary Heights, so make sure you allow the appropriate travel time when coming to your class.

  • Subject to health, you child's teacher will be continuing to take your class while at DLSA Wilsonton.

  • Monday to Friday PM classes & Saturday classes at DLSA Wilsonton are very popular. There is onsite and on street parking available, but it can be busy.

  • Similarly, change room space is well used. We recommend if possible, that families prepare themselves to be able to quickly dry and clothe themselves without the need to shower at the pool and shower at home.

KEEN AN EYE OUT FOR OUR COMMUNICATION:

We are working hard to make this change as easy as possible for you. Good communication is imperative. We will send/implement the following items to help maintain good communication throughout this time:

  • Initial email communication outlining the changes in Week 9 of the program

  • Followup email reminder in week 10 of the program

  • Reminder email in week 11 of the program, the week before change comes into place

  • Blog post detailing the changes week 8 of 22P2

  • Social media posts week 9, 11 & 12 of 22P2 and week 1 of 22P3

  • Reminder text message Sunday 26th June, the day before the change comes into place

  • DLSA Team Member 'HOAST' located at DLSA Wilsonton helping DLSA Cent Hts parents.

Finally, we would like to pass along our heartfelt THANK-YOU for your patience and understanding throughout this time. This will be a challenging time for our Team. Please know that we are doing all we can to make this 2 week period as easy as possible for all our families.
